First solo exhibition by artist, Andrea Yomtob, will be on view October 19, 2013 at Canapo Art Gallery in Carmel, CA. In Yomtob’s art, each subject experiences a myriad of feelings, lessons, self-discovery, and many seem to be without answers. These “insights into our souls” are the very moments Yomtob captures in her work. The multifarious textures of her painting are as important as the emotional connections, unique poses and sometimes-indefinite expressions. Yomtob uses various techniques, using light reflecting oil colors, created by crosshatch scoring, a technique taught to her by Omar d’Leon, a mentor and friend of 15 years. Andrea developed her own layering technique using oil, chalk, and paper on wood, creating a textured surface for fine detail pen work. Each layer of thick texture parallels the layers of emotion her subjects experience and in navigating this web of image and texture, life and emotion find their unique moment to connect.
On display at Canapo Art Gallery in Carmel By The Sea, CA is a new art series by Los Angeles based painter, Andrea Yomtob. This new artwork uses traditional fine art drawing with impressionistic and abstract oil painting techniques. The use of layered texturing creates a richness on the canvas. Her work will continue to evolve in subject, detail, and color, so stop by the gallery to be a part of this emerging artists’ creative path!
